Let's Play Ball | Blue Jays Music Event

Join the fun with the OSMPA Blue Jay's | Let's Play Ball Music Event!

This event is open to current OSMPA students.

What does baseball and music have in common? Practicing and teamwork to achieve your goals!

Local author, Tina Powell, wrote a book just about that! Tina's book, Freddy and the Blue Jays, discusses the hard work of practicing and how daily practice can help you achieve your goals. We are very excited to share that Tina has donated signed copies of her book which will be given to each student participating in this event.

Please read the details below on how to participate, and when the deadline for your video is due. Happy practicing! Let's play ball!

1. Download the music below for your instrument(s). Students who are studying multiple instruments may take part on each instrument. If you are unsure of which part you should download, please speak with your teacher.

2. Practice your part each day! Speak with your teacher about notes, finger markings, dynamics, and tempo. Recording must be submitted at Bpm=156 (per quarter note).

FAQ: How do I make sure I'm playing at the correct speed when I record my performance?

When you perform your song, you will listen to the backtrack links below. Listen to the backtrack with ear phones while you play, so that the backtrack is NOT heard in the recording you submit.

3. When you have practiced your part and you are ready to record your performance, dress up in your Blue Jay's Gear (Blue Jays Hat/Shirt/Jersey). If you do not have Blue Jay's gear, consider wearing blue/white or be creative a draw/paint a Blue Jay's sign!

4. Family members are welcome to join the fun! Family members may take part in the recording by singing the words, or joining with another instrument.

5. Record your performance and submit to info@osmpa.ca

Deadline to submit your video is Friday, April 30th.

Performances will be put together by OSMPA. Your submission may be used in full/in part/placed together with another students and/or instruments. This video will be available publicly online.
