GROUP CLASSES

Class Schedule Fall 2017

Piano Fingers Group Classes: The Piano Fingers group classes are designed for children ages 3 to 10 and gives students the opportunity to study music within a structured curriculum with students of the same age and level. The group class curriculum uses RCM, Montessori, Suzuki, and Solfege as a framework to cover all areas of music literacy including melody, rhythm, harmony, music theory, ear training, and understanding music notation. A focus is placed on both developing the ear and developing sight reading skills in music. In addition to the group piano classes students can expect to take part in rhythm and movement activities, singing, music listening, an introduction to composers, and music theory. Group classes give students a solid foundation in music and also allows students to build friendships within the school that helps sustaining interest level through their first year of studies which is always the most difficult for students.

Classes consist of 4 to 8 students.

Mini Piano Fingers Class: Ages 2 to 4

Our Primary Piano Fingers Class is designed as a positive and welcoming environment in music with movement, singing, and listening activities. An introduction to the piano is led with carefully planned activities that allows for an interactive and enjoyable experience.

Junior Fingers Junior Class: Ages 4 to 6

Our Junior Piano Fingers Class is a creative approach to studying the elements of music including pitch, harmony and rhythm. At this age, students learn music as naturally as it is to speak. An importance is placed on developing the ear and establishing pitch.

Senior Piano Fingers Class: Ages 6 to 8

Our Senior Piano Fingers Class is a great way for children to begin a lifelong enjoyment of music. Students gain musicianship and keyboard playing skills and develop a solid understanding of music notation.

Piano Fingers Class: Ages 8 to 10

Our Piano Fingers Class teaches students how to play a wide variety of piano styles and explores musicianship through ear training, sight reading skills, and pitch through solfege singing.

Drop-in Theory: All ages. Music theory deepens a students’ understanding of music and develops a well-rounded musician. Music theory is recommended for students in the elementary level of playing. Students in the intermediate and advanced levels of playing are required to study music as a co-requisite to their practical studies.
